what level of language do people need in order to become a writer

the internet and blogging have given us all the chance to put our thoughts and opinions into words and a lot of people have taken that opportunity and put it to good use

other people have not

almost everyone who has even a basic education can write something

but what is it that makes an article interesting

is it content

is it vocabulary

is it presentation

is there a formula or set of rules that people can follow to create a well written blog or news piece

i write because i enjoy writing

i dont claim to be an expert in literay prose or journalism but i hope that the things i write are easy to read and interest you enough to come back every so often to check for updates

i am much better at communicating via the written word than the spoken but at the same time i am saddened by the growing reliance on text messages and instant messaging that the worlds youth seem to have

i used to know the home phone numbers of all my friends and my own home and had to call each one in turn when plans were made or changed

now we can type out a short message and send to a group of contacts

is there a place left in the world for novelists story writers and people who like to paint pictures with words

sunlight in windows
young hearts are always dancing
bringing happiness

the future

the future is happening all around us

everything we do affects what comes next so in a way the present is the future

time flies

when faced with your own mortality how will you react

what is your legacy

will you be remembered

i solve problems everyday and i help people be able to do their jobs

i will not change the world and i will not be acknowledged on the street for my great contributions to the industry

half the time people struggle to remember my name which i think ive already covered

is it enough for me

do i want more out of life

ive been thinking about movie plot lines recently

specifically the ones where a protagonist is in a perfectly normal everyday average situation/job and usually through no real action of their own is thrown into a situation greater than them where they survive with surprising aptitude before finding happiness

more realistic would be that the character completely misses out on the opportunity due to be stuck performing a thankless task in a job they hate for a meager salary

or if they embark on their journey of self discovery the aforementioned salary would cause them to fail very early on due to lack of funds

or the tax office tracks them down and takes everything they earned

i suppose thats why we use movies as an entertaining form of escape from reality

it'll never catch on

a friend of mine is often ridiculed for a statement he made many years ago saying that 'the internet is just a phase, it won't last' or something along those lines

the world is a fickle place full of fickle people

the majority of my social contacts are not scottish although many of them have lived in scotland for most of their lives

im not sure what my point is there just wanted to get that out there

home

the concept of home is a recurring point of ponderance for me

i moved house a few times in my primary school years and i feel that it gave me a perspective that many people lack about how the world exists in a series of communities

we eventually settled in the town where i went through all of high school and eventually left to go to university

i never liked this town

my parents and much of family have settled here and seem to be happy enough but i always knew i had to get away

and i did

twice

but im still here

if home is where we go when we have nothing else then this is my home

but if home is a place where you feel you belong then it is not
